High School Play
Since the mid 1990s, the International Christian School has produced an annual high school play. Students are challenged to lose themselves in their roles and are taught teamwork, stage presence, and commitment. Play genres and styles have included biography, allegory, comedy, modified readers theatre, and musicals. The satisfaction of a job well done is a lesson well learned, and the high school play ends up being one of the favorite memories for many of our high school students.
Plays have included the following:
- Call Unto Me (based on the life of Isobel Kuhn)
- A Higher Court
- The Mouse that Roared
- Binding Ties (based on the life of Amy Carmichael)
- About Face
- Bridge of Blood: Jim Elliot Takes Christ to the Aucas
- A Christian Christmas Carol
- Off the Track
- So Many Miracles (the life of George Mueller)
- Queen of Sacred Song (the life of Fanny Crosby)
- Sovereign Choice (the life and testimony of Lady Jane Grey)
Elementary Christmas Play
Christmastime is a special season for all believers, and the elementary students at International Christian School do their part each year to help keep things in perspective. During an International Baptist Church midweek service each December, our elementary choirs and a cast of characters hand-picked from among our elementary students produce a delightful Christmas program. Families, guests, and church members alike look forward to this special program where we are reminded that Jesus is the reason for the season!
Kindergarten Graduation Play
One of the highlights of our year happens every May when the International Christian School kindergarten class participates in its own graduation program. The class sings several songs, quotes Bible passages, recites poems, shows off their reading and counting skills, and produces a play. Parents and guests enjoy watching our little graduates receive their “diplomas” and move their tassels as the children graduate to the 1st grade. Among the character-building plays that captivate audiences each year are Little Red Hen, Goldilocks & the Three Bears, The Gingerbread Boy, Little Bo Peep, The Tale of Tom Kitten, and Peter Rabbit.
